damn,as heartbreaking as that competition ended up being,it had all the makings of a really great competition. still having 3 gymnasts per country and good gymnasts from Russia,USA,Romania,Ukraine and China all in the running for a medal…AA comps just aren’t the same anymore..not like back then. i actually still liked this comp even with all the splats and vault shenanigans.

Lilia’s gymnastics is so elegant and beautiful,it’s a given she’d be one of my favorite gymnasts. how can you not enjoy her routines? she should have won every Longines Elegance Award if they had that back then(did they?). lol. i ‘performed’ her ‘96 floor routine so many times in my living room after the ‘96 Games. Lilia was a ballerina and a power gymnast. such a perfect combo.
